Matthew 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
Purity in my life is the absolute work of the Holy Spirit – my declaration of personal innocence is simply denial of my true nature. I must expose my motive and purpose to our Lord’s holiness and His Word. We cannot truly embrace purity by acts of our will alone – true purity comes from our humble broken dependence upon the Holy Spirit. The purity God sees when we acknowledge His Son must be transferred to our hearts. My sins are forgiven; but my sin-nature must submit to His transforming influence. Too often we see what Christ has done for us and neglect what He wants to do in us. Innocence and the removal of guilt is not an endorsement of my life, it is an opportunity to totally change my life. Purity is not imparted into my life – it is granted to my mind that I might hear, obey and trust His commands. Confidence is not the security of my salvation it is the desire to submit to His Lordship. The cross I must bear is the continued work of sanctification transforming my life by His Holy Spirit. The proof of my faith is my earnest desire to emulate Christ. Forgiveness imparted is not holiness experienced.
