Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Our freedom of choice is God’s gift to create passion, devotion and desire in our service to God – anyone who uses his liberty to glorify God is a person in fellowship with and pleasing to God. The essence of our sin-nature is self-serving defiance toward God that exalts personal freedom and balks concerning our willingness to submit. The greater our freedom, the more difficult it is to understand stewardship and service. Much of Christianity assumes God has called us to enjoy our independence and simply revel in His blessings. There tends to be far more energy given toward self-preservation than pursuing lives that glorify God and bring Him pleasure. God gracious gift is not provided to bring meaning to this life – it is to prepare us for our eternal dwelling.
