John 7:17 "If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
We express our acknowledgment and acceptance of the Word through obedience, not simply understanding. Knowledge comes through study, understanding comes through acceptance, and wisdom comes though application. The wisdom of Christ cannot be attained through study alone – it must be experienced. We do not plant mature fruit of the spirit – it will grow from a nurtured heart of humble obedience. It is not possible to express truth unless it has possessed the heart. Unless truth demands my obedience, it remains an empty principle. Truth will never transform our behavior if it is not allowed to challenge our desires and ambitions. Truth that has not been tested does not bring lasting transformation – it is far more important to apply truth than understand it. God’s promises are attached to our humble obedience more than our willingness to quote their existence. Truth is never altered or hindered by faithful obedience, but it is often abandoned when filtered through human caution and concern.
