‎Jim Vining‎ to Understanding the Times SS Class 1 hr · Psalms 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.

Psalms 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.
God have mercy upon us as we have neglected the high calling of holiness. We have longed for the approbation of truth and sorely neglected the personal application of truth. The believer need not call attention to his faith – our personalities should be so transformed by the Holy Spirit of God that our words and behavior declares our faith. I should not have to remind people that I am a man of God in principle if I am truly committed in practice. It is easier to apply God’s Word to acts of sin than allow it to deal with the root cause of sin. To be like Christ requires that all ambition be for the sole purpose of God’s glory. There should be no place or activity that can be done apart from the abiding presence of God. We are living epistles through our expression of Christ’s character. There must be a willingness and readiness to share the reason for our abiding hope and confidence – but our public behavior will shout our motive and faith. The true believe does have to convince anyone of his faith – it is apparent how he responds and how he lives – if we are truly a God pleaser men will note the difference. Not everyone will warm to our devotion, but we must allow conviction to come from God rather than our mouths. Transformation rarely comes to the one who simply fears judgment or loss – but is ever working in the life that acknowledges what he is separated from. To show man the joy and contentment of a godly life will inspire more revival than threats of judgement alone. Our goal must be to inspire men to accept Jesus Christ as savior and LORD!
