Psalms 23:5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
A feast is celebration and fellowship to be enjoyed with the host and other guests. Our celebration is not isolated from our problems or our detractors – we are to enjoy our hope, faith and promise while our enemies look on perplexed by our ability to focus upon the privilege and blessing of our redemption. I would prefer to be transported away from all my problems and difficulties – but it is the essence of my faith that makes the unseen real and the physical evidence illusionary and temporary. It is not easy to keep our eyes fixed upon the prize that is promised – but it is one of the most profound declarations of our Faith in the Lord. The believer is anointed with the precious Holy Spirit to declare us as His children, confirm our reconciliation to God and guide us into the fullness of our promise. The fullness of my cup is not measured by a worldly standard – the spiritual and eternal promises are delivered at the cross and confirmed in His resurrection. I do not take for granted my earthly blessing but I will not allow them to determine my contentment or joy – Born-again believers are the most blessed of all God’s creation because we cannot even imagined the overflowing blessing that awaits us in heavenly places.
