It is my desire to begin each day with quiet study and devotion rather than end each day with a recap of what I have done or failed to do – learning from experience is a vital part of spiritual growth but we must not neglect preparation and study to provide wisdom for the right response. Mornings are best for spiritual study because the mind is rested and often the distractions are reduced. I do keep a pad near me to jot down responsibilities I must address during the day – this way I can focus upon God’s Word knowing I can deal with other matters later. God will cause the hungry heart to be enriched and filed – but it is the result of my willingness to seek it. Every example God has recorded in His Word provide insight into His ways and purpose for our understanding. My faith in God is directly linked to personal devotion to His Word and humble willingness to obey. The focus of my devotion is not my human need – it is the enrichment and maturity of my spiritual understanding that all of my decisions and choices are found pleasing to my Lord and Savior.
