‎Jim Vining‎ to Understanding the Times SS Class

1Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
Our words must exalt Christ and disparage our own abilities – being accepted as stewards of our Lord’s grace and mercy. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that draws mankind to the saving knowledge of the Gospel – it is not my job to pursued the doubter, but to instruct and encourage those whom the Spirit of God has touched. We can convince no-one of the truth of our Lord’s redemption, if the Holy Spirit is not present in our speech and their heart is not open to His convicting influence. Witnessing is not argumentative or demeaning – we need not worry about eloquence or appeal – our only obligation is to speak from personal conviction in truth. We are but oracles or truth, established in eternity past – we need not defend the Gospel but we must be accurate in our witness. Simply present it to the common man for its common purpose. We are living epistles to be used by the Holy Spirit bringing our Lord’s redemption to others – we must be clear, convinced and committed to our role as vessels fit for our Master’s use. Our focus must be upon eternal redemption rather than a social gospel of health, wealth and happiness. Our Lord’s eternal joy will come into the life that places all hope and trust in His saving grace and mercy.
