Romans 13:11-12 ¶ And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
The church must stand unified and ever vigilant if it is to resist the continual assault of spiritual forces. The first chapter of Job reveals the essence of satanic attack – to inspire our defiance of God and rejection of our Savior Jesus. Spiritual forces do not need our allegiance – their imagined battle is for dominion and influence through disobedience to God. The danger we face is not the forces from the outside it is the careless concern for the attacks that are birthed from within us. The greatest damage to the church comes from those who are more concerned with the desires of men than the will of God. Unless believers are charged by God’s Word and His Spirit the church becomes more intrinsic turning to emotional preservation rather than spiritual transformation. Some are more focused upon preservation of tradition than expansion of our Lord’s Kingdom. If we are more concerned with the appeal to individuals than the pleasure of God we risk losing both. The vigilance regarding spiritual warfare must never be underestimated. Spiritual armor is not provided to defeat evil – it is to preserve and protect the faith and hope we hold in our hearts – Satan has been defeated but he is relentless to challenge our resolve and devotion.
