(CNSNews.com) – So many Obama administration officials attended the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network convention in Washington last week that one of them joked about holding a cabinet meeting there.
“National Action Network has been a remarkable, remarkable partner to all of us in the Obama administration,” Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan told the gathering.

“I was just joking with the reverend on the way in – we ought to be holding our cabinet meetings here with you at the convention center because so many of us are here over these few days.”
In addition to Donovan, five other Obama Cabinet members addressed the National Action Network (NAN) conference, including Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Attorney General Eric Holder and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.
In his speech to NAN, Donovan said that Sharpton “over four decades has brought a powerful moral voice on behalf of the most vulnerable Americans. And that has always been important – always been important.
“But it has never been more important than in the wake of the most devastating economic crisis any of us has seen in our lifetimes,” Donovan said. “And so let us thank him for that voice -- that moral voice.”
