Wood encourages Christians to pray, vote
Fri, 28 Sep 2012 - 3:54 PM CSTIn a special video message, Assemblies of God General Superintendent George O. Wood encourages Christians to prayerfully and carefully consider the candidates and issues in the upcoming November elections. He urges Christians to bring biblical and moral values to bear on the pressing concerns of our day, including abortion, unemployment, gay marriage, education, religious freedom, war and other issues.
"Our nation faces unprecedented crises," Wood states in the brief, three-minute message. "Let's not misuse our freedom by failing to vote on Election Day. Jesus called the Church to be salt and light in the world, and one of the ways to do this is by voting."
Wood also encourages viewers to set aside a few minutes each day to pray for our leaders and our nation. As part of the 7:14 Prayer Initiative (based on 2 Chronicles 7:14), he asks people to join him in praying every day at 7:14 a.m. and p.m. as well as to fast and pray over the noon hour on Fridays.
The video is posted on the vote.ag.org site, which also now features three new articles - The 7:14 Prayer Initiative, Seek the P.E.A.C.E. of the Nation, and Election Year Dos and Don'ts - as well as a free downloadable bulletin insert that features a special 7:14 Prayer Initiative for the five weeks leading up to the November elections.
The site continues to offer links to voter registration sites for all U.S. states and territories, Scriptures to reference and many additional resources and links.
