Some proponents of "gay marriage" are getting nasty in their campaign tactics. A report out of Washington state says hundreds of yard signs supporting traditional marriage have been stolen or damaged. In fact, a couple of activists in a Tacoma suburb have been bragging on social media sites about stealing the "Reject R-74" signs. Other signs in numerous locations statewide have been slashed, burned, and defaced with pornography and graffiti spray paint.
Chip White of Preserve Marriage Washington notes also that two women, one of whom is one of their campaigners, were assaulted by a proponent of homosexual marriage.
"The irony in all this is that the gay marriage camp says that they are the voice of tolerance, fairness, and kindness," he notes, "but there is nothing tolerant, fair, or kind about destroying our signs and intimidating supporters of traditional marriage." And because it also is illegal, a criminal complaint is being filed with police.
White believes the incidents ought to be a source of motivation for people to show up at the polls and reject intimidation.
"We would urge them to turn out and vote to reject R-74, [to] reject redefining marriage," he tells OneNewNow. "We really need to keep the traditional definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman -- that's what's best for society."
In other states where homosexual marriage has been legalized there have been examples of Christians' free speech being silenced, their businesses and organizations being affected negatively, and young children being taught in public schools that the homosexual lifestyle is acceptable behavior -- even though the Bible says otherwise.
