Obama: I want to replicate the auto bailout in ‘every industry’
Politico report on comments "updated to reflect the president's intent"

President Obama said Thursday he wanted to “do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry,” in a Pueblo, Colo. campaign speech.
OBAMA: I said, I believe in American workers, I believe in this American industry, and now the American auto industry has come roaring back and GM’s number one again. Now I want to do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry.
Drudge linked to a Politico report on the comments, originally under the headline, “Let’s repeat auto industry success with every manufacturing industry.”
The headline has since been changed (“Obama: Let’s repeat auto industry success”) with an update at the end of the post, “Clarification: This post was updated to reflect the president’s intent to express his support for manufacturing success. An earlier version was unclear about his intent.”
The U.S. Treasury still owns 26.5 percent of General Motors; the company’s stock price has fallen by more than 30 percent since its November 2011 initial offering.
Last week, the automaker announced sales fell 6.4 percent in July.
