James 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
God never ceases from His desire to produce His holy nature into our lives. We must allow our Lord to refine and direct our careless behavior. Until we are glorified in Him; Christ and the Holy Spirit will continue to tweak and adjust our committed character. It is man’s tendency to revel in the forgiveness of sin and balk at the challenge to his sin-nature. We desire the spiritual banquet while longing for the carnal deserts. It is ‘fruitless’ to passionately believe and refuse to obey. Often the believer thinks that Christ’s finished work upon the cross eliminates personal responsibility – Christ’s finished the work of reconciliation to allow the Holy Spirit to begin the work sanctification. Christ removed the wall of separation, but we grow in our understanding and faith to experience His presence. It is our sin-nature that defies the Holy Spirit full reign in or lives – it is right and worthy to revel in what we have been given but only to the extent to passionately possess what we have been promised.
