Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Trust is the essence of faith – trusting with all your heart is not an emotional response; it is the conscious willing choice to place all hope in what our God has declared and devote our selves to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. Our understanding is conflicted between our sin-nature and God’s holy Word. Our tendency is to evaluate life’s events based upon personal benefit rather than the directives found in God’s Word. Our understanding evaluates based upon expectation and wishful imagination – to challenge and change our understanding we must be devoted to regular meditative study of God’s Word. The Word of God provides ample proof to unconditionally trust in our Lord – the historical events found in the Word are provided to prove sovereign majesty of our God, reveal the frailty of mankind and present the eternal promise through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Those who neglect regular Bible study will never truly acknowledge God as He has declared Himself to be. God’s guidance is not based upon knowing the process – it is the result of diligently, passionately, obediently seeking to know the Person of Christ. The path we are required to traverse is not nearly as important as placing our unconditional faith in our God.
