John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
This life will deliver as much opposition as possible – it is our privilege to face these problems knowing we serve the God of creation. Our Lord is sovereign, knowing the outcome before it begins. There is a vast difference between being overtaken by evil and being faced with its challenge. Some believers tend to think they should be sheltered from hardship rather than immunized from its influence. To overcome the world we cannot expect to be taken out of it – the sacrifice of Christ has separated us from our sin, not the temptation to sin – the Holy Spirit is given to strengthen and guide us into holiness. We must determine to humbly allow our Lord to transform our minds and behavior in the midst of a fallen world. The peace our Lord has promised is not related to a place or circumstances; it is our faith and assurance that He has overcome the world to preserve our hope and secure our promise.
