Revelation 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Our mortal existence has but one purpose; to prepare us for our eternal habitation – we are being prepared to meet our infinitely holy God. There will be tears of joyful relief and gratitude that our struggles have ended mixed with the anguish of regret for failure to heed the warnings. The difficulties and conflict of this life are to unlearn things that hinder our Lord’s abiding presence and prepare us for His return. If any circumstance in our lives diminishes our faith and confidence in Christ or His sovereignty, we have failed the test. It is our times of darkness or despair that our Lord’s loving presence is made more evident – it is too human to take our ease when all is going well. It is when we are at the end of our rope we are brought to a place of suffering the circumstances or surrendering to our Lord. Trials are not allowed to break-us, they are provided to change-us. My Lord’s nature or purpose is not changed or challenged by my circumstances. I must learn to apply His promise, rest in His presence and remain confident in His ultimate justice. Christ’s return is a Biblical promise, as real as creation itself - Luke 21:28 "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
