Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
All mankind longs for contentment, purpose and long-life based upon personal desire and ambition. Our sin-nature causes us to search in the wrong places or surrender to the inevitable end of all life. The living Word of God is our only source of truth, hope and purpose. The optimistic wonder of eternal life has been placed in the heart of all mankind by our God. The finality of death plagues our thoughts and inspires our choices. The hope of life after death is our unique quality among all of God’s creation – those without hope seek worldly comfort; those who acknowledge God’s provision tend to define God’s provision. Except for humans, God’s creatures think only of survival. Our sinful rebellion has robbed us of our eternal destiny tending to become driven by instinct and desire. Until we humbly acknowledge our unmerited privilege found only in our acceptance of Jesus Christ we are mired in an endless search of purpose.
