“Conservative” Trey Gowdy Endorses Establishment Puppet For President – Et Tu, Trey?

Rep Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is, in addition to the Chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi, the chairman of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security. One might expect a true conservative with those responsibilities and Mr. Gowdy’s “reasonable but tough guy” persona to be a hawk on illegal immigration.
In some ways he is. As they relate to face time on the topics of illegal aliens and criminal illegal aliens, his comments and speeches on the subject certainly have that appearance. His speeches give that impression, though they are, as is customary with Congress, invariably weak on the follow up. Then again, when questioning DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, the prime architect of the open borders, lawless situation that exists in our nation following the murder of Kate Steinle, Gowdy failed to hold him to account the way many of us had hoped he would.
He did nothing to distinguish himself in his questioning of the lawbreaking pro-illegal invasion ICE Director Sarah Saldana in April of this year. Her stripes are well-known as a woman who was confirmed in spite of her admittance that she agreed with the lawbreaking positions of the regime and DHS under Jeh Johnson. Gowdy spent the bulk of his time engaged in a discussion of the limits of and when prosecutorial discretion applies and may be exercised rather than the hoped and deserved grilling of the director. He went so far as to first ingratiate himself to the enemy of the American people by complementing her and thanking her for her service in her current position and for having previously been a school teacher. Both of those positions are paid; she was thanked in the form of financial compensation. Besides, she’s more than offset any goodwill she may have altruistically banked in the past through her current work as an agent of the anti-American Obama DHS open borders team. The video of that exchange appears below.

With a UN/State Department “refugee” drop site having sprung up in his district, we might also expect a strong national security, pro-American position from Rep Gowdy. A letter was  sent by Gowdy to Secretary of State John Kerry in April of this year exposing the out of control nature of the refugee program and seeking answers to a list of questions. The people are powerless in the face of the UN and the federal government and that the system still exists in that same form, in spite of new threats of terrorism possibilities being raised. That reality only adds to the questioning of Mr. Gowdy’s level of commitment to enforcement, his effectiveness and his willingness to put Americans first in their own country.
He talks a good game, there’s no denying that. His rhetoric is music to the ears of most conservatives; at least for the first few times they hear it. The question that we have been left with is how much of the Gowdy persona goes beyond mere combative, belligerent oration, translating into meaningful action. That answer is much less clear, and his recent announcement of support for the Senate gang of eight pitch man Marco Rubio for president only serves to add much more fuel to that fiery question.
The “comprehensive immigration reform” bill that Rubio helped craft and ushered, on behalf of Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the Democrat leadership, through the Senate was open borders, anti-American, anti-middle class sellout to the money changer class. It’s potentially disturbing to those who thought or had at a minimum, hoped, that Gowdy might hold himself to a higher standard than the typical self-serving DC politician. His endorsement of the Senator for hire, Rubio, who serves the financial class, is not a positive sign in that regard.
Rubio wasn’t just a misinformed stooge who signed on not knowing what he was getting himself into. He was instrumental in writing the bill. As Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said, “His fingerprints were all over it.”
According to Breitbart.com, Gowdy said in a statement provided to reporters, “Marco is a rock solid conservative and a strong leader we can trust. I look forward to campaigning in Iowa with him, and introducing my good friend to voters across the state.”
Maybe Rep Gowdy defines conservative differently than conservatives do, but he’s nothing of the kind. He’s a puppet for hire for those who can afford him. Why would Gowdy, who surely is much more aware of the character of the Senator and his history than the average DC outsider, attach himself to one who is the opposite of the image Gowdy had worked so hard to craft for himself?
Gowdy is scheduled to join Rubio for seven Iowa events with the announcement of his support being made at the Pzazz! Convention and Event Center in Burlington, IA on Monday.  Rep Gowdy was also a stalwart supporter of Speaker John Boehner when he was under fire from conservatives.  Perhaps conservatives have been a little too anxious to trust the words or to embrace the methods of Mr. Gowdy as their gladiator against the establishment on both sides of the aisle. It appears that the establishment has Rep Gowdy’s support. He in turn, has, and can expect, theirs.
