It’s simple, consent of the governed is all but dead, and our supposed representative government no longer represents us.
Mark Levin begins his talk radio show discussing Daniel Horowitz’s article on Conservative Review today entitled: An Impossible Homework Assignment: 2,360 Pages of Highway, Education Bills. The article informs us of the massive omnibus bills Congress is set to consider without reading and without consulting their constituents. The fact that endless regulations and fixtures will be pushed through without public consent leads Levin to ask, is this representative democracy?
The article opens and closes this way:
Republicans have essentially telegraphed the message to Obama that they will not stand in his way to fundamentally transform America on a single policy issue… The congressional Republicans, led by House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, are once again proving that it would be better to have no Republican Party than one controlled by enemies within.
The Great One takes us on a philosophical journey demonstrating how the bureaucracy has grown to become so massive, how Congress has become so meaningless, and finally how we the people have become disregarded and powerless.
