Busted: Washington Politicians Scheme to Escape Obamacare

It’s a rumor that’s been repeated far and wide: Washington politicians exempted themselves from Obamacare. Not quite. But Speaker Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Reid are scheming to do just that.

From inside-the-beltway pub Politico:

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.
The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

If lawmakers just passed a healthcare plan as fantastic as say… Cuba’s, why would they want to exempt themselves from it? Don’t they believe in equality? Don’t they think that Obamcare will maintain the same quality of care, as promised? What about getting some ‘skin in the game’?

Oh, c’mon. If you fell for that, you must be a Democrat voter.
