Progressives calling for totalitarian control by IRS

IRS2
I woke this morning to a very disturbing editorial from the New York Sun. It began with this quote from a February 19th editorial from liberal progressive newspaper of record, the New York Times:
“Secret money has become the scourge of the political system and needs to be eliminated regardless of the inconvenience to nonprofit groups, whatever their ideology. Republicans have blocked Congress from dealing with the problem, so now it is up to the I.R.S. to do its job.”
Several weeks ago, we shared the words of NY Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer when he spoke before the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress calling for a “redoubling of efforts by the IRS and government agencies” to attack funding for conservative groups.
Now we see the semi-official mouthpiece of the Obama administration, the New York Times, falling in lockstep (or should we say goose step). The Times is calling for President Obama and the IRS to bypass the GOP-controlled House of Representatives because it presents an obstacle to their totalitarian design of fundamentally transforming America.
As the New York Sun says, They are one of the most astonishing combination of sentences we’ve seen in a while for the schematic way in which they illuminate the dictatorial mindset. Where in the world did the Times, once a paper of liberal progress, get possessed of the notion that the executive branch should do things that Congress decided it didn’t want to authorize it to do?
Consider our story yesterday that the Obama administration’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants to go into newsrooms and evaluate their “critical information needs.” Now we have a member of the American free press calling for an agency of the federal government to eliminate free speech and expression of Americans? Some liberal progressives will say the Times quote is advocating for this for all nonprofit groups, “whatever their ideology,” except the Times also says “Republicans have blocked Congress from dealing with the problem.”
Funny — I didn’t see the Times addressing the issue of the AFL-CIO, National Educators Association, American Federation of Teachers – in other words, unions’ influence on the political system. The Times doesn’t seem concerned about the UAW, after its defeat in Tennessee, claiming they’re going to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to demand a re-vote.
The idea that something should be done to override a Congress that refuses to authorize a certain administrative action is a recurring theme of the Obama administration. After all, he’s got his pen and he’s got his phone. Not only does The Times want the IRS to do things Congress hasn’t authorized, but things the Supreme Court has ruled against.
Message to the New York Times and liberal progressive socialists: you are playing a very dangerous game. Never underestimate the patriotic fervor of everyday Americans — those whom you despise, demean, and denigrate at your fancy cocktail parties as ignorant, stupid, and extreme.
What you liberal progressives are attempting to implement is totalitarian and extreme in every sense. There is a groundswell building and you don’t want to be on the wrong side of history. This Constitutional Republic will persevere and endure your blatant attacks. The American people, Patriots, will be victorious and will not stand for “weaponizing the IRS” and other government agencies.
