IS AL JAZEERA’S PURCHASE OF AL GORE’S “CURRENT TV” CABLE NETWORK A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO AMERICA?
A Muslim propaganda outlet?
One would suppose that Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, would be sensitive to foreign policy issues involving the culture clash between American values and those values found in the Muslim world. However, it appears that Al Gore might become a metaphor for Americans selling out to our cultural enemies in return for the almighty buck.
Al Jazeera Acquires Current TV
Al Jazeera on Wednesday completed a deal to take over Current TV, the low-rated cable channel that was founded by Al Gore and his business partners seven years ago. Current will provide the pan-Arab news giant with something it has sought for years: a pathway into American living rooms. Current is available in about 60 million of the 100 million homes in the United States with cable or satellite service.
I am not so concerned about the duplicity of Islam’s messengers with their holy permission to lie (Taqiyya) to infidels, where Al Jazeera seems to say one thing in its English language broadcasts and quite another when speaking in native tongues.
Muhammad said: “Lying is wrong, except in three things: the lie of a man to his wife to make her content with him; a lie to an enemy, for war is deception; or alie to settle trouble between people” [Ahmad, 6.459. H] <Source>
But I am concerned about the potential of our enemies to infiltrate our nation and gain access to the highest offices of government and our institutions in the guise of newsgathering …
Rather than simply use Current to distribute its English-language channel, called Al Jazeera English and based in Doha, Qatar, Al Jazeera will create a new channel, called Al Jazeera America, based in New York. Roughly 60 percent of the programming will be produced in the United States, while the remaining 40 percent will come from Al Jazeera English.
The plan will bring Al Jazeera, which is financed by the government of Qatar, into closer competition with CNN and other news channels in the United States.
For Al Jazeera, the acquisition is a coming-of-age moment. A decade ago, the Arabic-language channel was reviled by American politicians for showing video tapes and messages from al Qaeda members and sympathizers. Now it is acquiring an American channel.
Is this is the clear and present danger?
Al Jazeera intends to open new bureaus across the United States to support the American programming. The news operation currently has bureaus in New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago.
Bottom line …
I have a cynical outlook that is based on historical precedent. I have every reason to believe that spies posing as journalists and educators were able to infiltrate some of our more critical defense and technology facilities and walk out with information regarding dual-use technology or critical weapons-related information. And the last thing we need is unmonitored journalist passports and possible free entry of our enemies into the United States through foreign-owned offical channels.
I do not trust the Saudi’s who appear to be funding the world-wide expansion of the ultra-religious Whabbist sect and possible payments to terrorists in return for not overthrowing the Kingdom. And, Qatar has a similar absolute monarchy – although they maintain close military ties to the United States – who knows which way they may jump when pressed by their Arab neighbors threatening a new Arab Spring in the country.
Qatar and the Arab Spring: Support for Islamists and New Anti-Syrian Policy
The small but wealthy Gulf State of Qatar is striving to adopt a leading role in the Arab world, and has readjusted its foreign policy in the wake of the Arab Spring. In doing so it has tried to stick to its former strategy of maintaining good relations with all countries that could be important to Qatar’s survival – primarily the US and Iran.
At the same time Doha (which until 2011 had mostly counted on the authoritarian status quo in the region) hopes to profit from the recent upheavals in the Arab world by supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist opposition groups. With regard to Syria, this policy is threatening to bring Qatar into conflict with its powerful neighbor Iran. While Qatar publicly declared its support for the opposition early last summer, Iran wants to save Bashar al-Assad’s regime and thereby ensure the survival of its main ally in the Middle East. The Syrian crisis could risk destabilizing Qatar’s traditional balancing act between the US and its allies on the one hand and Iran and its allies on the other. <Source>
In the final analysis, when it comes to duplicity and treachery, the United States can trust no member of a divergent intolerant culture whose goals are radically different from the freedom and tolerance found in the United States.
As for liberals like Al Gore who are espousing socialist philosophies while pursuing a buck, I find them contemptible for trying to dismantle the very society that allowed them to make their fortune. Pretty much I regarded Al Gore as a poseur and the chief spokesman for the greatest hoax in history, now I will have to reconsider if he is also willing to sell further Arab access to our country for a price?
