HILLARIOUS! FBI Says They Couldn’t Investigate Hillary For Perjury- Then THIS Happens
During the Congressional hearings, in which FBI Director James Comey had to carefully navigate a line of questioning to avoid saying anything that would condemn Hillary Clinton of having done any wrongdoing, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), may have had the best line of the day after he asked if the FBI needed permission to investigate Hillary for perjury.
The line of question began by establishing a few facts,
Chaffetz: “Did Hillary Clinton lie?”
Comey: “To the FBI? We have no basis to conclude that she lied to the FBI.”
Chaffetz: “Did she lie to the public?”
Comey: “That’s a question I am not qualified to answer. I can speak about what she said to the FBI.”
Chaffetz: “Did Hillary Clinton lie under oath?”
Comey: “Not to the FBI, not on the case that we were working.”
Chaffetz: “Did you review the documents where Congressmen Jim Jordan asked her specifically, and she said, ‘There was nothing marked classified on my emails, either sent or received.'”
Comey: “I don’t remember reviewing that particular testimony. I’m aware of that being said, though.”
Chaffetz: “Did the FBI investigate her statements, under oath, on this topic?”
Comey: “Not to my knowledge, I don’t think there’s been a referral from Congress.”
That’s an amazing admission on the part of the FBI Director, that the FBI will not prosecute a high-ranking Democratic politician of perjury without a referral from Congress.
Chaffetz: “Do you need a referral from Congress, to investigate her statements under oath?”
Comey: “Sure do.”
Then the best line of the day:
Chaffetz: “You’ll have one. You’ll have one in the next few hours.”
Representative Chaffetz then went on to try to pin the FBI Director down, to admit that a person who mishandled top secret and classified information would be denied a security clearance from the FBI. Comey would not say that such a person, like Hillary Clinton, would be denied a security clearance outright, but these facts would be considered with regards to the decision.
Chaffetz: “The FBI does background checks. If Hillary Clinton applied for a job at the FBI, would the FBI give Hillary Clinton a security clearance?”
Comey: “I don’t want to answer a hypothetical. The FBI has a robust process in which we adjudicate the suitability of people for employment in the Bureau.”
Chaffetz: “Given the fact pattern that you laid out, less than 48 hours ago, would a person who had dealt with classified information, like that… Would that person be granted a security clearance at the FBI?”
Comey: “It would be a very important consideration into the suitability determination.”
Chaffetz: “You’re kind of making my point, Director. The point being, because I injected the words Hillary Clinton, you gave me a different answer. But if I came up to you and said that this person was extremely careless with classified information- the exposure to hostile actors, and used, despite warnings- created unnecessary burdens in exposure. If they said that they had one device, and you found out they had multiple devices. If there had been email chains with somebody like Jake Sullivan, asking for classification changes… You’re telling me that the FBI would grant a security clearance to that person?”
