Barack Obama’s record on the economy may not be very positive, but he does have some celebrity friends to hang out with and help him get re-elected. Not only can he already call on Oprah, George Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Scarlett Johansson, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga, and Steven Spielberg among many other, but he can now add 25 young Hollywood stars to his growing arsenal of celebrity activists.
What better way to spread a poor performing message to a bunch of unknowledgeable voters who obsess over gossip websites than to get the up-and-coming stars in Hollywood to try to re-invigorate Obama’s sputtering campaign?
While President Obama could not make time to mention the anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy during his California fundraising trip, he could find time to meet privately with 25 young stars.
Among those who met with the president were The Avengers starJeremy Renner, Glee actress Dianna Agron, Star Trek’s  Zachary Quinto, Southland’s Ben McKenzie, Jessica Alba,Bryan Greenberg, Adam Rodriguez, Zach Braff, Brandon Routh, Ian Somerhalder, Jared Leto, Kal Penn and Sophia Bush.”
According to the report, Obama did not “directly solicit” campaign contributions, but did emphasize the difficulty his campaign is expected to face and how “valuable” Hollywood support would be.
Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder tweeted, “Totally surreal morning. Met up with some friends, had coffee with President Obama now tweeting. The 21st century…Let’s do this.” He the followed that tweet with another saying ,”Just spent my morning w/ this man talkn green energy, a better America&being a young American-wow.”
Talking about a ‘better America’ creates jobs? How? We’re still waiting to see any results at all.
