(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama told donors in New York Monday that same-sex marriage “strengthens families.”
Obama, who announced last week that he had evolved to the point of supporting homosexual marriage, told contributors at a fundraising event that he believes in fairness and equality.
“The announcement I made last week about my views on marriage equality -- same principle,” he told the audience. “The basic idea -- I want everybody treated fairly in this country. We have never gone wrong when we expanded rights and responsibilities to everybody. That doesn’t weaken families; that strengthens families. It’s the right thing to do.”
