Mexico on its way to legalizing same-sex marriage?

A new reform initiative, which was welcomed by Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto, aims to allow same-sex couples to get married throughout the country legally. This move comes after several liberal policies were implemented in the traditionally conservative country.

Pena Nieto announced yesterday evening (Tuesday) that he will sign a reform initiative that fully legalizes same-sex marriages.
This move is just the latest of several liberal policies that were implemented in the traditionally conservative country. Following yesterday’s announcement, which coincided with the international day against homophobia and transphobia, Pena Nieto added the gay pride flag to his profile picture on Twitter.
Just a few weeks ago, the President proposed to facilitate the marijuana laws. Last year, the Mexican Supreme Court determined that the laws restricting same-sex marriage were unconstitutional.
