ObamaLand: Where Logic is an Enemy and Truth is a Menace

Obama
“Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of man, is obsolete.
“It has existed in the past, it is here in the present, and will, alas, be there in the future.
“The all-powerful state is not a new world that has never existed before. On the contrary, it is merely an extension of what began in the old one.
“Such an overarching regime has patterned itself under every dictator who has planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time.
“It has refinements, technological advances, and a sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But, like every one of the super states that preceded it, there is that one iron rule that it must maintain and retain to survive – logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.”
The words above were spoken by Rod Serling in a Twilight Zone episode from June 2nd, 1961 titled The Obsolete Man.
It is the story of Mr. Wordsworth who was condemned to death by the state because he refused to stop thinking as an independent human being in a soulless, all-powerful state where such dissenting behavior was considered a dangerous aberration. He was thus deemed to be obsolete in the New World Order; a “crime” punishable by death.
And so it is with great sadness that the wonderful, divinely inspired human experiment called the United States of America is remorselessly slipping into its own twilight zone.
Logic and truth, freedom of expression and citizens’ rights, as enshrined in the magnificent Constitution and Bill of Rights, are now deemed treacherous and obsolete by the vast and growing power of Big Government under the baleful and imperial presidency of Barack Hussein Obama whose army of unelected apparachiks eagerly do his bidding without question.
It would seem that under the soft tyranny of the Obama Administration, the three basic rights enshrined in the Declaration of Independence – Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – are all but expunged.
What has happened to President Abraham Lincoln’s stirring words immortalized in the Gettysburg Address: “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
We also forget at our peril the words of President Ronald Reagan: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
The mainstream media, the fourth estate, which must always question government, now acts as an extension of the president’s will, guilty of covering up and ignoring each and every presidential act of prevarication and dissembling.
The media is meant to monitor the political process in order to ensure that political players don’t abuse the democratic process. News reporting is supposed to be objective but has increasingly become partisan and editorializing has taken the place of unbiased reporting.
What I call ObamaScare, is not only about Healthcare but represents the entire panoply of leftist social engineering and perhaps constitutes an irreversible and mortal threat to the continuation of America as we have known it. Obama promised to fundamentally transform America. It did not need transforming, but the masses voted him in twice.
Some segments of the population thought him cool, others that he was young and charismatic compared to the tired old John McCain and later the nice but problematic Mitt Romney. Liberals predictably flocked to Obama, seeing their perceived white guilt expunged by electing a black man as president. All so much dross and flummery.
Herb London writes the following under the titleThe world I’ve known has come to an end: “There was a time not so long ago when I could select my own doctor. There was a time when I could choose my health insurance company. There was a time when everyone believed Marxism was a failure, an idea relegated to the ash heap of history. There was a time when class warfare occurred in other places far away, but Americans believed in opportunity, not sponging from others.”
All that is changing under Obama’s benighted transformation of America. Marxism is back, morphed now into what the ever perceptive Mark Levin calls “statism.” The cry now is for “redistribution of wealth.”
The enduring engine of that wealth was the great American belief in the individual’s ability to live in a free society, to take personal risks in the attainment of a better life for oneself and one’s family and, in so doing, create a better society for all. That is what attracted millions of willing and enterprising folk to immigrate here from their foreign tax ridden, stagnant and socialist regimes.
But now wealth is seen as obscene. The Obama doctrine is predicated upon taking from the enterprising rich who lived a life of initiative and hard work and giving it to the growing mass of the population who prefer always to take but never give and who have now grown to expect as their right every government handout they can get.
We are fast approaching the situation that prevailed in the Soviet Union where one heard the gallows humor: “We are all equal, but some are more equal than others.”
Obama’s foreign policy, as with his domestic strategy, is to bring America down to a powerless and impotent level. He is succeeding to his own delight but to the ruination of the United States of America. His gleeful policy of allying himself with America’s natural enemies, at the expense of the few remaining loyal allies the U.S. still has, is at full tilt.
It will be hard, if not impossible, to restore America’s domestic economy, save the currency, pay off its titanic debt, or restore the now undermined personal freedoms granted us by the Constitution. Obama’s ravaging of America’s international pre-eminence in the world may never be restored to its previous position and its ability to keep at bay the savage and irrational regimes, especially those that proliferate in the world of Islam, is, perhaps, now fatally weakened and destabilized.
Herb London ends his article with the following words:
“In surveying this landscape I realize that I am an alien in a foreign land. I don’t speak the language of puerile adolescents that dominate the media. I remain a patriot, albeit patriotism itself is an antediluvian idea. And I regard government’s coercive effort to redistribute wealth as theft. My world is at an end. There won’t be a funeral for the deceased nation, but there will be a lamentation. This is it.”
Those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear can but only agree with him. How terribly sad for our beloved land.
