Speaking during a conference for foreign journalists in Israel Monday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the international community, and particularly the international media, of a double standard in their handling of the conflict between Israel and the Arabs.
“Israel will continue to tell the truth about our rights in this country, and to protect our nation against enemies who want to destroy us,” he said according the Israeli daily Maariv.
“This weekend Hamas leaders openly called for the destruction of Israel,” Netanyahu said. “Where was the outrage? Where was the UN? Why weren’t Palestinian diplomats in European capitals summoned to ask why the PA Chairman didn’t condemn that, but also of the intention to unite with Hamas? There was only deafening silence and we can not accept this. ”
“No we can’t accept that when Israel is building houses in our historical capital, the international community has no problem speaking out on this, but when Palestinian leaders openly call for Israel’s destruction – the world is silent,” the Prime Minister continued. “But Israel won’t be quiet. We’ll continue to tell the truth and defend our rights against those who want to erase our past and deny us our future. “
