Jay Carney’s New Official Lybia Story Is A Doozy

Carney: “The vice president was speaking about himself, the president and the white house. Not the administration.” Hooooo boy

In context, it’s even worse than it looks. Jay Carney, official White House Mouth of Sauron, truly wants us to believe that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are not “the administration” andthis whole mess is the fault of Republicans (via John Heyward).

“We have been very transparent about what we know,” Carney said, adding that the administration “gained a clearer picture” as they found out more information in recent weeks.
Carney said there was “no actionable intelligence” that would indicate an attack was being planned, but would not get into the details of that information.
Carney also slapped at Republicans — mostly in the House — for slashing budgets that would help bolster diplomatic security. Biden also attacked Ryan during the debate for cutting embassy security budgets.
Carney said he finds it “rich” that Republicans would try and politicize the issue of the attack on the Libya consulate when they “routinely” slash funding for security to pay for tax cuts.

Yep. The President and Vice President aren’t part of “the administration” and Republicans killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Or something. It’s tough to tell what the White House’s official story will be about Libya on any given day, isn’t it? Why just today we learned the same intercepted phone call the White House used to tell us the cause of the attacks was obscure YouTube video and not in any way connected to al Qaeda actually contained specific connections to al Qaeda.
