Last week's evening news story marked the first time the network covered the scandal, according to the Media Research Center's (MRC) Dan Gainor, vice president of business and culture.
"It took more than a year before NBC finally decided to cover a story that is about how at least one American and who knows how many Mexicans were killed as a result of this bizarre government program to do everything but Fed Ex guns to Mexican drug lords," Gainor says.

On the other hand, Gainor gives props to CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson for her coverage of Fast and Furious, among other stories.
"She got an award for it, but the network didn't let her pick up the award since it was from Accuracy in Media," he reports. "It would have been delivered at the Conservative Political Action Conference."

Instead, one of Attkisson's bosses picked up the award for her.
