David Limbaugh on NYT Bestseller: Obama Will ‘Do Anything Administratively He Can Get Away With’

The Great Destroyer, David Limbaugh
(CNSNews.com) - In his new book, “The Great Destroyer”--which will debut this week at No. 2 on the New York Times Bestsellers list--author David Limbaugh argues that President Barack Obama has managed to push through legislation that gives the executive branch unwarranted power and that when he has been unable to achieve his aims through legislation he has sometimes taken unilateral administrative action to achieve the same ends.
“He’ll do anything administratively, it seems, that he can get away with,” Limbaugh told CNSNews.com in an interview.
In his book, Limbaugh points to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act—AKA Obamacare—and the Dodd-Frank Act, designed to regulate the financial industry, as two examples of legislation he believes give the federal government excessive power.
Dodd-Frank, Limbaugh notes, created a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that is funded directly by the Federal Reserve, without appropriations approved by Congress, and over which Congress cannot exercise its traditional oversight functions.
“Indeed,” Limbaugh writes, “Dodd—Frank and Obamacare typify Obama’s America: extraordinary power is granted to small groups, bureaus, agencies, and entities to make crucial decisions about the most important aspects of our lives, from our personal health to our finances—in secret and with little accountability—and through structures and processes wholly inimical to our Constitution and our republican form of government.
“Sometimes,” writes Limbaugh, “instead of allocating power to unaccountable agencies and individuals, Obama simply circumvents the law altogether.”
Limbaugh argues that Obama’s Department of Homeland Security has taken administrative action to make it easier for illegal immigrants to become legal immigrants.
“Then in March 2012, after the Senate had again defeated Obama’s beloved Dream Act the previous December, the Obama Department of Homeland Security proposed a new rule to make it easier for illegal immigrants who are immediate family members of American citizens to apply for permanent residency, which experts say could affect more than one million illegal immigrants,” Limbaugh writes in The Great Destroyer.
Today, President Obama announced a new policy under which his administration will not deport illegal aliens who came to the U.S. under the age of 16, have lived in the U.S. continuously for at least 5 years, are still under 30, are in school, or have graduated from high school or have a GED, or who have been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces or the Coast Guard. He will also grant illegal aliens who meet these criteria permits to legally work in the United States.
“Let's be clear, this is not amnesty, this is not immunity, this is not a path to citizenship, this is not a permanent fix," Obama said. "This is the right thing to do."
